Fisherman’s Bastion

When you look at the Fisherman's Bastion, one of the important touristic centers in the list of places to visit in Budapest, you may think that you see a castle for the first time. Although its stone towers and architecture resemble a castle, this is not a castle and has not been used for this purpose throughout its history.

If you ask what makes the Fisherman's Bastion one of the most attractive places in Budapest, I can say that you can catch the most impressive view of the city here: Danube River, Chain Bridge, Margaret Island, Parliament Building, St. Stephen's Basilica... is laid before you. It is possible to watch the city of lights from here in the evening too!

The name of the Fisherman's Bastion, which was built in 1902, may also be interesting to you. In the Middle Ages, there was a fish market near this area. Its name is said to come from there.

If I talk about its architecture, there are 7 towers in the Fisherman's Bastion, which is shown as one of the most interesting examples of the new Romanesque and neogothic style. These towers symbolize the 7 tribes that played a role in the establishment of Hungary.

Fisherman's Bastion, located in the Buda region, where you will often encounter striking memories of history, is a frequent destination for millions of tourists. There are many touristic areas and structures around it that you can visit and see.

You can add this place to your list to see Budapest from a great vantage point and to wander the Fisherman's Market, which is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. By the way, there are cafes, restaurants and walking areas in the area.
